While the City Sleeps

A pause in the action,
The game is over for the day.
The bankers, businessmen and secretaries
Have all gone home
Their toys all put away.

While the lawyers rest
And the city sleeps
One man searches, thinking,
"Is this all there is?"

Like the child who wants to stay and play
When bedtime has appeared,
The disappointment dwells within.
At close of day,
No one to play.

I previously presented this poem in a poetry contest. There is the moment when someone has the drive to keep going at the end of the day.
