Analysis of Gallows

The Drama Queen Poet 1995 (Bulawayo)

Listen to the whispers on my lips
I do not stutter and I do not lisp.

How dare you act as if your deaf
As if you're righteous and that's all that's left

There are cities of men and beasts
Lit in the sin on which their bellies fully feast.

We are the mourning shadows of the lost. The memories of meadows long past.

No longer holy but brimming with light
As we try to shine dimly through this man made blight.

And so you'll hear the screams that echo lioness roars. As we burst through the seams and barrel through the doors.

Darkness will only vester within boarded down houses and as the nails come undone with secrets spilled from trousers.

I may not be your Karma or the one that sheds sunlight upon your shadows but your day will come and you'll pay your demons from the gallows.
