Stand Against the Wind

When brooding clouds grow angry,
When threatening skies lash out,
When thunder jolts the heavens,
When tempests drift about,
When driving gales abrade you,
When summer’s storms begin,
When trouble churns the waters,
Just stand against the...

For Lindsay

If tears could heal a broken heart,
I’d weep all night for you.
If dreams could bring you back again,
I’d sleep my whole life through.
If memories could restore our bond,
I’d not forget you ever.
If pain could lead to Heaven’s gate,
With joy...

A promise made for then….and now!

And...

Waiting For the Light

WAITING FOR THE LIGHT

Not much to do all through the night,
Not much to see in black and white,
Where I’m waiting,
I’m there waiting,
For the light!

Passing shadows are like friends,
Some come and go, some never end,
Where I’m...

Daddy is indeed a 'precious word' that warms the hearts of special men. This sentiment is well-written with careful attention to rhyme and meter.

There is certainly no shortage of needy and underprivileged children in the world, in part, because of a shortage of willing and qualified foster caregivers. Your poem skillfully presents the reader with a poignent reminder of this uncomfortable reality as well as an impliciit call to action to remedy a social injustice that devastates such a large proportion of society's most volnerable members.
