	I have to say I'm a bit embarrassed that after going through 149 poems, this one still rose to the top and stayed. And I'm a prudish, proper, white-haired octogenarian, Oh, my! 	I read this poem so many times, falling more in love with it each time. I love the metaphor of depression as prison warden and the prison as your mind. This poem is so apt, so true, so poignant. I like how the author continues the metaphor throughout the poem, applying it so aptly to what depression is, and still maintaining the rhyming style. The other prisoners, of whom you're well acquainted, are earlier versions of self, and occupy the prison of your mind. The ammunition for the evil, cruel warden's gun are memories that he loves to shoot. "Nothing would give him more pleasure " It is so true that past regrets are the weapons depression uses against us. Wow. Like I said, I love everything about this poignant poem. 	I love that this sad, poignant poem honors the innocent victims of a hate crime. It shows the danger and damage done by lies propagated on the Internet pushed by creating fear and divisive hatred. It warns that this is not the end, for the root cause continues and grows. It's an important message that seems so hard to get across in this climate of hate and greed. more » 8 months ago	View
