My Love

Nice guys finish last
put that foolishness in the past
Because I have the kindest man
and you always do what you can,
always there when I need somewhere to lean,
always treat me like a queen.
Not like a princess, fragile and meak,
respect who I am, never making me weak
You make me smile, cause you're kinda funny,
and it don't matter about the money
cause cash is vastly overrated,
all the rich guys that I dated
tried to play me for a fool,
thought the paper made them cool.
I'd rather a man that treats me right,
watches me sleep through the night,
protects me from rats, and thieves who would harm,
gives me magic kisses to keep me warm.
I'll admit, you're no Slash
but if I need you, you're there in a flash.
And ,no, you're not Johnny Depp,
but he can't rhyme like you I bet.
When everything is going wrong,
you hold me up, you make me strong.
The sound of your voice, calling me baby girl
makes time stop, just you in my world.
When you laugh, you have the greatest smile,
wish I could see it more than once in a while.
When this life seems bleak and dark,
if you think you're alone and lost your spark,
remember, forever, I'm your beautiful girl,
we're in this together for the long haul.
So stop being silly, there's no need to roam,
just follow my heart and find your way home.

Laura Verdi Stridiron

Born in January 1969, I was raised in Queeens NY. I am a daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. My favorite jobs in the world. I have been writing since my early teens. I write because it is cheaper than therapy or bail! I write to give the beast an outlet for his creativity! I hope you may enjoy some of the poetry I have written,as much as I enjoy reading yours."Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win.” Stephen King more…
