Silently

Silently Souls slipped into eternity
While the world sang auld lang syne.
Capturing memories of the out going year
Excitement seemed to be at an all time high
And as the cheers went into high gear a spirit bade farewell
With Fire work displays and singing hoorays, no one could ever tell
And old acquaintance be forgot rang out both near and far
And in the silence another soul transitioned to a distant star
The elation to some rendered a joyous sound while others retorted, ‘I feel so bound’!
And while souls slept, crowds stood in awe
Paying homage to God the One who saw.
And never bought to mind was the sentiments of the night
Reminiscent of reconciliation, forgiveness and making things right.
But still in the clutches of eternity there hung
A soul that wandered, its song unsung
And yet many hasten the new year to see
What lies ahead, what possibilities there nay be.
Some were toasting and tasting the New Year ahead
Others felt lonely, melancholy even sad.
The anticipation of the new year kept some on edge
Whist others for the new year had no pledge.
And as the countdown to the new year is ushered in
Some will deem it their year to win,
Others will deem it their year to be free
And silently Souls will have slipped into eternity!
