I Found the One

I found the One, I knew he was meant for me.
His eyes, his lips, I knew quite tenderly.
His words, for hours, kept me entranced
This magic didn’t happen just by chance.

But “she” kept him from me, that wicked thing,
Kept me from the freedom his love could bring.
His hurts, his fears, his doubts and tears,
Belonged to “her”, his past experiences and years.

“She” controls who he chooses to love and know
He believes “her” because what else does “she” show?
“She” tells him lies so he cannot forget
What happened or was, is all he can expect.

As physical as a body standing between us,
His past is like a woman he can't forget.
The chasm was deep, the damage done.
I found him, I love him, but must leave the One.
