Test Drive
Let’s take a test drive down the road to see if I’m what you want.
Pull over to the side and adjust until you feel comfortable and nonchalant.
I want you to want me real bad and need me so much.
I want to see it in your eyes, I want to feel it in your touch.
There are many corners up ahead and the curves are vast.
So take it slow and easy because I’m not ready to go fast.
You can look everything over good before you decide
I just want to kick back for a while and enjoy the ride.
I come just as I am, what you get is what you see.
There is no fancy warranty or unlimited guarantee.
Are you willing to get involved and join me in this dance.
Am I worth the effort and risk for you to give me a chance.
I’m not perfect, I got a few scratches and dents and a so called past.
There is the possibility of bumpy roads ahead, do you think we can last.
The road to love is never easy, it takes hard work and compromise.
What are we willing to give and take, what are we willing to sacrifice.
We will never know how the journey ends unless we take the ride.
I’m willing to go anywhere that you go just to be forever by your side.
I anticipate the experiences and all of the things we are going to see.
Only time will tell us if we made the right choices if this is meant to be.
About this poem
This poem is about two people starting a relationship. I used the idea of test driving a car as a metaphor for falling in love.
