Fallen Grace

I didn’t wish to fall from grace,
A million candles burning,
My sense of reality losing grip,
My heart losing its yearning,
But, holding on as I might,
I just couldn’t keep on learning,
While those candles couldn’t keep burning,
My bitter tears fall with glee,
As the soldiers keep dying,
And now I sit in the dark,
Because my teeth are always lying,
And all the blackness stuck in my heart…
Is telling me I’m dying.

About this poem

This is a poem about regret. It describes a ruler who has done so much harm without meaning too. When this poem was written it started out as a simple prompt of 3 words, and soon morphed into a full blown train wreck. The poem was relatable to me, and can be to many people. We all have regrets. Wanting to change the past, to turn back time, to find yourself, myself. But at the end all that regret and pain well, it kind of eats at you. So you end of dying, emotionally or physically.

Emily Rose Dale

Emily Rose Dale, born on November 7th, 2010 in Brooklyn, NY, has always had a certain passion for writing from the heart. When forced to write she feels it is artifical and especially with poetry when one should be writing from the heart. Her preffered genre's/topics to write about include, regret, loosing people, sadness, among other things. She finds that writing about it is a way to get the words out and lighten the load that one carries. She has 2 younger siblings and lives with her mom and dad in Brooklyn, NY. She wishes to become a doctor when she grows up, but still promises herself to always continue writing. If she were to give advice to anyone trying to write poetry she would moat likely say something along the lines of, "write from your heart, and let your brain move the pen." more…
