Night terror

Robust, roaring, darkening skies
Furious clouds, threatening light
Carefully curious, watchful eyes
Anticipating a stormy night

Violently smashing, growling wind
Shivering, shaking, rattling trees
Monstrous goosebumps, clammy skin
Chattering teeth, wobbly knees

By creepy corners might shadows lurk
Her favorite painting an upside down smirk
A mysterious bulge in the curtain seam
Her mirrors zero reflection reveal

Come crying her cat, it's gaping mouth
So badly teared and filled with blood
Eyes wide and terrified search about
While coughing up bloodied bile from the gut

She tried her best to call for help
But no sound would escape
Her jaw clenched tight
Hopelessly paralyzed, locked in herself
Failing in battle, losing the fight

Then when the walls came closing in
While the roof came crashing down
HARD
She surrendered, gave up
Let them win
And then suddenly woke
With a start
