mirror, mirror

Nina 2002 (Paraguay)

there are times
when i look in the mirror
and i don't recognize myself.

i stare at the reflection
wondering who that young woman is
because that definitely isn't me.

sure, we share the same eye color, the same nose
our tiny moles are in the exact same places
but who is that?

what happened to that lovely girl?
the smiling one, the dream chaser, the optimistic one
with a promising future.

where has she gone?
will she ever come back?

Great job. I was always thinking about making a poem about myself in the mirror.
