Not At All

Sarah Brower 1995 (New Jersey)

They say it’s better
to have loved
and lost
than to never love
at all

Is that true?
Is it really better?

Is it better
 to be soaked by rain
to wake up with illness?

Is it better
 to feast forbidden delight
and break out in rash?

Is it better to mine
for pure honey
only to get stung by the bees?

Truly I feel
I rather be burned
 in peaceful ashes
knowing
I haven’t sacrificed my sanity

I love to express myself through poetry. I can’t force inspiration so I only write when I feel moved. Authenticity is important to me!! If I can make anyone feel heard and understood, Then my goal is accomplished. more…

Beautifully written, deep, and soul touching about the mental anguish that is love.
