To Heal Is To Break

To heal is to break
Internally shake
Open up scars
While bending cage bars.
Knocking down walls
Face plants, trips and falls
It's anger and pain
While feeling no gain.
To heal is to feel
Things never thought real
To relive a time
When life was not kind.
It's tears and screams
Night terrors in dreams
It's losing all trust
Masking love into lust.
To heal is to die
Slowly inside
To shed away the skin
Of what lies within.
It's facing my dark
Slaying demons that lark
It's ugly, it's cold
It's secrets untold.
To heal is to lose
All those barriers I choose
The walls I hide behind
That keep me safe inside.
Healing is breaking
All the excuses I've been making
Of why I haven't accomplished
Dreams the stars heard me wish.
To heal is to break a bond
I've had with myself for so long
The secrets that I've kept
All the silent tears I've wept.
It's reluctant honesty
With me and only me
It's self love, self care
As my own heart I tear.
To heal doesn't come with ease
The process may displease
Loosing people along the way
That just weren't meant to stay.
Because healing is a story
Of personal inventory
And sometimes others just can't see
Beauty in the daunting process of breaking free.

To heal is to break
To heal is to break
TO. HEAL. IS. TO. BREAK.

And no apologizes will I make.
