Old Ace
I still remember now
As if it were a dream
The living breathing legend
I’d swear I’d never seen
Now a rusting shell
Twisting metal and steel
Dust covers many images
Showing how many, it did kill
Sun gleamed on its body
Crowds did cheer and sing
The home-coming of the ace
In the skies it reined king
Memories of days long gone
Thoughts of yesteryears
Silent it waits forever
Crying drips of oil tears
About this poem
Second world war lost spitfire
