Twinkle Twinkle

Twinkle, twinkle solitary star
So alone and - oh so far!
In the dark of the night,
Anxious and so full of fright.

With joy, this song is always sung,
How the little star up there is hung,
But don’t you see the lonesome light,
Anxiously trying to shine so bright?

In the dark world that surrounds it,
Competing constantly to be fit.
This is surely not a pretty sight
As joyously children oft recite!

Twinkle, twinkle little star,
Now I wonder not what you are,
Just a lonely light up above,
Fighting to shine - with a push or shove!

Like the humans here below,
Wanting to do the best and glow!
Better than the best is best,
Leaving behind all who ‘fail’ this test!

Is this the shining star we see?
Twinkling up above to max degree?

About this poem

Since childhood I've always wondered how the little star is actually lonely up there!
