The love I crave
While your kiss, soft as the wet grass on my front lawn
in the morning of most brilliant sunlight
hits my skin with such passionate tenderness only ever curated by a being entangled in the enchantment of deep love,
I feel myself descending deeper into the never ceasing pit of spiraling desire,
a desire to be held as though I've never been held before,
touched as though I was a most precious gemstone,
and to be loved as if I were someone truly worth loving.
About this poem
This is a short poem describing how my current lover's kiss is a newfound feeling that I want to hold on to. Some background info: I have been in only one other relationship that was abusive and shattered my mental health, this is when I began writing poetry. This is the first poem I have submitted that I have a strong connection to that demonstrates the craving I have for a love I now own.
