An article i- newspaper, Saturday 8 July 2023,...read it after finishing this poem......... Canada,/ Round the world with no planes, trains or automobiles Canadian fireman Mr Markus Pukonen....... Columnist WAYZerit Rachel Muller Heyndyk ......... A Canadian fireman has completed an 8 year long trip around the world without a car, a bus, or plane. Mr Pukonen, 40, left Toronto in July 2015 for the 73,000km(45,360 mile) journey, stopping off in India, China and Africa./ Mr Pukonen arrived back in his home town near Niagara Falls on 1 July on a bicycle, where he described having had to fight back TEARS at the US/Canadian border./ " I was not expecting it at all, but I started choking up and, like, shaking at the custom booth," he told CBC News./ " It felt pretty special to get back into the home country and, you know, a day after Canada Day, too."/ The adventurer said he decided to take the challenge while battling wildfires in Canada and having discovered his father had been diagnosed with a serious form of cancer./ Mr Pukonen said he hoped his story would act as a source of hope./ "People forget that 150 years ago, NOBODY used motors at all." he said. So the fact what I'm doing is such a crazy, astonishing thing (to some people) is bizarre to me." more »
