My Epilepsy

Keabetswe Ramantshane 1983 (Pretoria St Mary's)

When you visit me, I am on my own
When I hurt myself, I am on my own
You have so much power in making the mind be in isolation to the body
Awakening to consciousness is always a confusion
I never want to talk about you even after the many visits I had from you, because at times, I cannot explain you.
Every single time you arrive. I wonder why I did not see you coming, I wonder why I did not feel you coming.
At times, I believe, I can STOP you from a distance, only a wishful thought
I sometimes wonder why your visits is only to the selected few but again you wouldn’t be my visitor.
There is so much we still yet to discover about you, if only neurons were as easy as understanding language.
They have called you different names, they have given you different descriptions, but only you decide when to show yourself.
At times, I talk about you merely to create consciousness as you have been my lifetime visitor.
Oh, my Epilepsy if only you could stop visiting me!!!!!!!
