Sisters
As young girls you would cry,
Tormented and frightened by words.
I tried to scare you,
It was my defense from this world.
They made promises to us,
Both mom and dad.
Neither kept it though,
Which left me quite mad.
Responsibility comes and goes,
At merely seven mine was immense.
You and the baby needed more,
My adolescence to intense.
Selfish in their actions,
Allowing the dirty to cross our path.
Leaving us in filth,
The grime washing off in the bath.
Our scars heal silent,
But we will never forget.
The damage they did,
The clouds above a constant threat.
Dry your tears little girl,
The stories I tell are untrue.
The monsters sent to scare,
To get a rise out of you.
They cant hurt us anymore,
Not if we don’t let them.
Dad long gone by his own hand,
Letting go of the leaf and the stem.
Mom still going,
Hunting for her prey.
Even with a leg missing,
She will cause you to stray.
To contribute her evil,
To the world at large.
But even she suffers,
Nothing left to discharge.
Forgiveness given with difficulty,
Blame has been a constant friend.
But its his fault not hers,
That life came to an end.
