jīvanam

Athul Raj 1999 (Kollam)

Life is a  transitory cotillion of light and dark
A shade of manners and straits that leave their mark
A  trip of twists and turns, of highs and lows,
A mosaic of recollections, both bitter and sweet, that overflows.
It's a  trip that begins with a single breath and ends with a final shriek,
the last step in death, But in between lies a world of horizonless possibility,
Of moments that define us and shape our identity.
It's an oil staying for our every stroke,
A song that we can choose to sing or provoke,
A swash that we can navigate with our every choice,
A voice that can either be skittish or joyful.
Life is a precious gift, a chance to be alive,
To witness the world, to laugh and love and strive,
To find meaning and purpose in every transitory moment,
To leave our mark, and to produce a potent heritage.
So let us live each day with open hearts and minds,
With courage and compassion, with love that binds,
Let us cherish every moment, and let us make them count,
Life is a treasure that's meant to be set up.
