I saw the world
I saw the world
for Anna Łyczewska
I saw the world from a distance.
Cultures and nations coexisted humbly:
So united in peace and thanksgiving, praising
Lord’s who stands high.
People in a hurry erased from the heart and tongue
Indecently cruel words:
Wars, diseases, plagues,
Pain and suffering as well
The shame of the fallen and a fear of the subjugated.
Blooming meadows in juicy colors
Cornflowers, blue and duck flowers, like a fluffy carpet
Grass and reeds decorated the life-giving earth.
The trees in the valleys hum a song about the sun
And warm rain in the woods and orchards behind the house where
Rosary in trembling fingers
Glowed in prayer for a day without pain
Old woman's weakened bones.
And on the porch a girl in tears
She looked for her Only One return.
Somewhere on the balcony in the town a boy
He lustfully admired the beauty of the woman, in the silk robe
Her knee, like an apple, protrudes a little,
Which later he dreams warmly.
And the man hugged his wife to forget her troubles
In the heart - waiting for better days.
Dirty children ran along the fence - who
The first one will stick to the chestnut bark
In the park next door.
And we, like those children, in our Galaxy...
Ordinary life - so extraordinary.
Leaves on the water, like boats, got marked foaming streaks of time.
So I wandered to distant lands
To find my place on this Earth in naivety.
But the Master said, I remembered:
Appropriate measure to the things that
They can't happen.
You give them too generously
Existence.
