Sexual Sin

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Do you know what it means to be self-controlled?
When sin enters your mind, you don’t let it unfold!
It enters as a package sealed up nice and tight.
It’s wrapped with fine ribbons and a bow that’s just right.

In your heart when you see it, you just want to touch it.
But you better not do it, instead you should flush it.
Because if that present you begin to unwrap,
It will spring up and catch you; you’ll be caught in a trap!

The teeth of the trap, they feel softer than fleece.
Will you cut off your arm then to gain your release?
You might tell me yes, but I will not believe you.
I can see that already, the sin twice deceived you.

If it fools you once, then the shames on the sin.
But if it fools you twice, you’ve already left it in.
Do not be deceived by the folly of the wicked.
Or you might end up laying there on your own sick bed!
