Money and Fiancé

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

Into this world we know sins must come.
But woe to the one through whom they come.
He will not find peace or rest from his labor.
The gold that he craves is not from our Savior.

It is not the kind that’s refined by the fire.
But only a source of deceit for that liar!
Oh, how I wish all of his money would perish.
And then in his heart, God, he would learn to cherish.

All perfect gifts come down from God above.
Hope, faith and love, but the greatest is love.
Love for our Savior and a love for all people.
I think this is why your church has a steeple.

It looks like the hands of one deep in prayer.
Fingers joined at the top and palms open to share.
Evil comes from this world and the hearts of all men.
Thank God for His Son because He overcame them.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life!
Only through Him can you be free from this strife!
