Mercy and Grace

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

The Lord has shown me mercy again
In every wonderful way.
He was waiting on my doorstep this morning
To help me start my day.

When I opened the door, he came right in
And then we ate together.
He placed a song so deep in my heart
That now I’m floating like a feather.

He lifted my feet above the hills
As we went skipping across the mountains.
And now I can see His love for me
Is like an ever-flowing fountain.

The beauty the righteous receive in the Lord,
Is like a twice- sharpened double-edged sword.
It slices both ways cutting off the fruitless,
And destroying the wicked that also are useless.

It acts like a razor that shaves a man’s face,
Getting rid of the stubble and revealing God’s grace.
