Toilet door

Toilet door.

Thump, Thump, Thump, your fist pounding through the ply,
I was inside trembling, trying to understand why,
Thumb hovering over the call button, 999 on the screen,
Cancelling that and bringing up 'mum' repeatedly switching between,

This demon out of no where, or was he here before?
Smack, smack, smack,
You've now pounded a hole in the door.
And some light's starting to seap in now,
and I'm praying you'll run out of steam,
Don't know if your drink got spiked
Or if I'm in some weird kind of dream?

And eventually the noise stops, and I hear you slump to the ground,
Relief floods in, But I stayed inside, I didn't make a sound.
And the next day you patched up the door, a little filler and some tape
And you tried to patch me up with flowers, said you'd made a mistake.

And we put things back together, no need for us to part.
But the door never looked the same,
And either did my heart.

I write poems to process really. I have no form/training/knowledge on poetry, I just find once I've put pen to paper, whatever thoughts I have are able to fly away and leave me be! more…
