The Writer....The Pen

The writer one day
while looking down at his pen
Discovered quite definitely the pen
was master of him

Dear pen he said pleading
and begging his plight
Why must you rule me
why must I write

In this infinite story
do I not deserve
To play the main role
to do more than observe

But dear writer said pen
why must you fight
For while others have action
you have insight

With no action
there can be no glory
Said the writer I feel
I'm written out of this story

And if I'm not in it
then what does that leave me
It leaves me with nothing
lest my mind deceives me

Dear writer how can
you say you have not
Just look at these pages
and see what you've got

The words that you've written
will live on for ages
And inspire actions in others
that look at these pages

So yes, dear writer
you are ruled by pen
But there are those who are readers
and you rule them
