The Calling Not Answered

Edward Otoo 2001 (Gomoa Nyanyano)

They invite us to their home,
And we think they want our good.
But not knowing they have a strange secret,
They enslave us and we work for them.
And make their home a better place
We enjoy the conditions they offer us.
And we suddenly forgot our home
We fall for their strange secret plan

We eat their food, speak their language
And we dress like them.
For their flashy lifestyles we learn,
And lost our identity and culture.

Now our home is in great danger,
Our women and children suffer
And cry calling for our aid.
No food, water and shelter
For our women and children.
Our women and children
Die of poverty and hunger.
Our women and children
Die of deadly diseases.
For there is no one to help them.

Oh! Kinsmen let us answer
The calling echoing from our home.
And save our women and children,
And let us remember our pledge.
We must answer the call
From our women and children.
