The Words You Said
All I ever wanted
Was to feel the way
...your words made me feel…
I want it to be real…
When you touched me
I felt my heart flutter…
I couldn’t speak
I could only utter
...a stutter
But then you would speak
Those words made me melt, so sentimental
I felt as though I was someone special
Like I was in the World Series
Leading with 12 runs to none
Your words said, no matter what, I would be
The chosen one…
My stomach is in knots
I’ll put to rest
My intuition
And avoid it…
I wanted to believe it....
I wanted to wish upon a star
And if I’m sleeping
Please don’t wake me up…
I want to keep on dreaming
You’d kiss me and it felt unreal
Why would you want to kiss me?
What’s the deal?
I fell in love with an imaginary dream
No one has ever wanted me
After they see
The inner me ....
They can’t handle all of my insecurities
And I feel more insecure
That’s for sure
And then you came along
And the words you said
Filled that empty void
And all I wanted to do was to avoid
My stomach being in knots
Because all my hope
Was in those words you spoke
But now you laugh
…. about those words
As if it were all just a joke
They were only words…..
You said.
But Did you know…
Those words you spoke….
Was where
I placed
….all of my hope?
My heart broke.
Denial…
We meet….once again
Face to face
You’ve become
My familiar friend….
About this poem
The way it felt to find out that the most important friend to me was actually lying and stringing me along
