The Poem of the Day

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

If you give them what they want
They’ll surely follow you
And if you say what they believe
They’ll swear that it is true

Like doves and wolves, they need to feed
But one will eat the other
The senseless and the ruthless live
And die to kill their brothers

The beast wants you to take his name
So, you can buy and sell
But if you do you’ll surely starve
To death and rot in hell
