Thoughts of the Past

The struggles I faced as a child
Could never be real
I'm not talking about hunger
I never felt that strain
I'm not talking about physical abuse
I never felt that pain.

But the calling of names
I didn't like those games
Never knowing who I was
Never feeling that I was loved

I used to hang my head in shame
When they called me those names
When I was told I would come out to nothing

When I was told the only reason I was there was because from them I wanted something
You'll become worthless
You're just like your mother
You'll never be like any other

My self-worth, self-confidence
I... waned thin
I felt hatred from within
