Mother

I see my mother
Beautiful and thin
Long strands of brown hair
And Olive copper skin
I see my mother
Tucking me into bed
A smile full of love
And kisses on the head
Good night sweet dreams
I'll see you when you wake
I pray the Lord
My soul to take
I see my mother
Is having a hard time
She finds her peace
In the salt and the lime
I see my mother
Is losing her grip
Our world slowly changing
Sip by sip
I see my mother
Irritated no longer a smile
She's being sucked
Into a downward spiral
I see my mother
Made a deal with the devil
Sending two angels
Into the arms of evil
I see my mother
Has been given another shot
She's been told to stay away
From the powders, bottles, and pot
I see my mother
Didn't heed the warning
Tragic news
When they called in the morning
I see my mother
Laying peacefully still
My mind goes numb
And I can no longer feel
I see my mother
When I close my eyes
For your given no choice
When someone dies
