First love
I hope you think of me whenever you see tulips…
I hope you told her about me.
I know it’s selfish but you have to feel it too-
You can’t tell me nothing reminds you of me
when everything around me resembles you!
Yes, I still think of you every time I buy that chocolate
or whenever I watch that movie
or spot that one item you never left the house without.
So why’s it fair that you get to move on?
How is it fair that you don’t stay up at 3 am wondering what went wrong?
I hope you remember me anytime you buy doughnuts…
“right person, wrong time”
That’s what everyone’s been saying.
I think you were the right person, at the right time.
I didn’t fall in love with you, you fell in love with me…
I fell in love with how much you loved me…
I know it’s wrong but I miss our 10 pm calls
That would go on for hours talking about the dumbest things.
I miss our inside jokes, our nicknames…
I miss-
The idea of you.
And as much as it hurts me,
I have to let it go…
Because even if you did miss me,
think about me, reminisce…
It wouldn’t change the fact that you were the right person at the right time.
Just not the outcome either of us wanted but should’ve expected
We were destined to care for each other
Even if it was only for a minute-
I hope you smile when you look at your notebook.
I hope you still want to read my poems…
OF COURSE, I hope you still think of me!
but, I hope you’re happy…
About this poem
I wrote this poem after my first heartbreak. My ex moved on so quickly that it made me wonder if I even loved them to begin with.
