First love

Love,
it's such a funny feeling;
when you try to push it down
a new crush every other day
but my first love will always be in the way
no matter how long he is gone
I will still, be waiting on the lawn;
we first met at the playground
and Id ignored those feelings even then
I hid away the butterflies I got when he talked to me
I covered up the blush he gave me when he told me he liked my hair
I giggled when he put me on his shoulders to play a game of pool chicken
When he moved I did indeed weap
for I thought I would maybe get his heart to leap
After years of pining after him, I've made a final decision
I'll let him go and he'll never know
ill be waiting if he decides were a-go
but no matter how hard I try
but he'll always be in the way
of my new crush, i get every other day
