Mother at 61

Sixty one years ago, Mother got her Independent.
This same mother as “a house” between her children, is still dissidence
Because some sets of children in her habitation
Sees no necessity for mutual acceptance or cooperation.

It’s 61 years of ‘supposed’ freedom from the colonists.
But seems to be a change of power from an international colonists to the local
Which gears individual to keep fighting and struggling
For what is meant to be a collective benefits.

Mother at 61, but brought her children two options;
It’s either to be in power or to run away from the powerful.
Power is no more used in favour of the powerless,
But for intimidation by ANOTHER in power.

Education is the best legacy for a child,
Only if the child studied abroad.
Mother at 61, but graduates in the house serves illiterate from another family,
While another better means for a first class is to become an Ò̩kadà or Tricycle operator.

Professors studied hard, traveled around the word in order to teach students,
Student’s don’t study to be a teacher/lecturer anymore,
But to have some ‘documents of escape’ to another country.
Mother at 61, but to be an high school teacher abroad is better than a university lecturer at home.

Mother at 61, but cannot make Warriors except various groups of rebels.
Collection of children fought for independence,
And now they individually fights for power.
A mother at 61, but cannot feed her children.

Talents are wasting, and strong ones are getting weaker.
Good deeds are been ignored, while hypocrisy gains more recognition.
Children are not proud of their mother, because mother remains slaves to other mothers.
Mother at 61 but children are not happy nor do they have good reasons to celebrate.
