Searching for Tomorrow
Searching for Tomorrow
Running towards our version of the perfect dream
We narrow our perspectives, like a laser beam.
Choosing our distractions, and our version, of what’s true.
Unsure, if we should take, the red pill, or the blue.
Living only to, accelerate, never time to celebrate.
Rushing, but always late! We choose our paths, then curse our fates.
The beautiful confetti, our senses dulled by wine.
Searching for perfection, hell following behind.
We pause for self reflection, as we lock our doors.
We listen for opinions, , but can’t hear them anymore.
Easy listening living, the blue pill calms the mind.
California Dreaming, of those we leave behind.
The red pill is sedating, you wake up in your car..
Eagles on the radio, you remember where you are.
Repeating the instructions, from the GPS.
Searching for tomorrow, but there is no known address.
The silent seconds teasing, as they steal another day.
The lines show there passage, but we can’t feel them, either way
No parking signs, stay off the grass!
Look out the window, as years fly by
Texting, as the continents, divide
The precipice unseen, on either side
The birthday candles flicker
In the caverns of our doubt
Wishes fill our pockets
As, we blow the candles are blown out
