Analysis of Freed for a Moment
Turning around a playground bar
a child is blowing off the thoughts
of awful fights at home
and nights no sleep was brought.
As soon as she’s made speed
she opens both her hands.
With only the back of her knees
rubbing along the sleek steel rod,
in quick rotation she holds on.
Then she gathers lean girl’s strength
for a gutsy airborne jump
and there she floats…
for a moment freed of things.
Upright she lands and firmly prints
her little red fists in her flanks.
