Analysis of To never have the chance to say goodbye.
To never have the chance, to say goodbye.
To continually sit and wonder as to why.
All so they could have all the control, on the day in which you had died.
That they could feel good about themselves, and be puffed up with pride.
I'm not saying that they didn't love you, because I know that they did.
So did we, and in the basement of the hospital, we felt we had to stay hid.
They left us no room, for your wife and your kids, no privacy.
They camped out day and night, giving us no sense of decency.
We wanted them there, to say there final goodbyes and be allowed to weep.
However, they just took over, no room for ourselves in your room to keep.
It is a terrible thing to say, but I resent them for taking our goodbye away.
It's been years now since you've passed, and the feelings are here to stay.
Why did they think that we didn't want that right? It leaves me full of spite.
We just did our best to honour your wishes, and we just chose not to fight.
But in the end, I just feel cheated and empty by their own selfish pride.
As a family, we should have had our privacy, on the day that you died.
So Dad, this is to tell you that I miss you, and that I love you too.
But Dad, this is not the goodbye, that I had wanted to give to you.
