Analysis of To All The Soldiers

To all of our soldiers who've gone off to war
To the ones fighting now and the ones from before

You never have met me but I need you to know
you helped free my family a long time ago

They lived under Stalin, a madman at best
When Hitler's men came and took everyone West

Into terrible prisons, thousands were swept
None from here came to help them, or know how they wept

My mother was young, just a girl, and so small
Her parents and brother, those men took them all

In this parlor of Hell they stayed prisoners for years
Despairing and hopeless they shed oceans of tears

But one day word came that Americans were near
It was true, soldiers freed them, that's how I was born here

There's more to their story but what I must say
Is I honor our soldiers who serve every day

You set aside your lives and hold back your fear
You leave precious families and all you hold dear

To help total strangers you never will know
God bless you for your help that time long ago

So I thank all you soldiers who continue today
Your gift for so many, we can never repay

Just know we remember, we're from so many nations
You're our heros, I thank-you
For all generations

Many Many Thanks

Ellen Eaton

Writing thoughts into poetry, what a wonderful way to keep thoughts and events from flitting away. As a jewelry designer and long time antique jewelry dealer, poetry gives me a moment to pause from all of that, which, though tremendously fun and rewarding, can overtake everything. Sitting back for a moment to write about my life in poetry form keeps things in perspective. And especially now, as I lost my beloved husband so recently. He was my heart, my soul, my greatest love and my best friend. Everything I did was magic in his eyes. I've lost my most loyal fan. But I'll catch up with him soon enough, what a reunion that will be! more…
