Analysis of Them Bones

We lay underneath dust and bones
Waiting for someone to come along
Waiting for the right words
That can manifest sinew
And remove our hearts of stone
Oh, them bones...

Then one day the words became flesh
And as we caught the waft
Of wine on His breath
It blew us away

Like a whirlwind that covers
The ends of the earth
What was spoken gave birth
To generation after generation
Of soldiers armed with nothing more
Than what they've heard

Sent to do battle with darkness
Regurgitating fire from their lungs
Rigor mortis now gone
Moving at the speed of light
Foreshadowing the dawn
Of a new day...
A new hope...
A better way to live

Even when our backs are to the wall
We still give our all
Because it's all we have to give
Because it's not ours;
It's HIS

And when history comes to a close
And we catch a glimpse
Of all that was once hidden
The shadows of our stories will disappear
In the grace of the face
That cascades an eternal light of redemption

Forgiveness and mercy -
No longer cursed
And buried in a dirt sea...
The veil's been ripped
Them bones have been blood-dipped
Because He alone is worthy
