Analysis of Homeland Splendor
Melita Catalina Warren 1949 (Kansas)
Where meadowlark from Fencepost to field dart,
Settlers set up camp and stayed.
Citizens blaze a new trail, forge a fresh start,
goldenrod sunflowers, wheat's silky blade.
We fortify our armor in each rampart,
Standard operating procedure obeyed.
A farmer dedicates work of hands, heart,
Go back to the plow! Pick up that spade!
We vow never to upset the applecart,
Yet nobody's gonna rain on our parade!
Toward fantastic destinations we depart,
At twilight we rest under Oak's shade.
A vision for our country we chart,
Homeland splendor displayed.
