Analysis of That's Just Not Me
Donald James Kirby Von Koehler 1965 (Burien)
That's Just Not Me
I could run away and chase a distant star leave this all behind
I could act as if it never happened it was only in my mind
I could harden my heart so no arrows could ever get through
but I realize that is no answer I'd live in a land of blue
I could close my eyes and visualize a place where nothing goes wrong
I could walk up on a fantasy and tell the world that's where I belong
I'd could sail on new oceans of opportunity that I've imagined for me
yet again I realize it's not wise to walk away from my reality
somewhere is an answer to the questions I ask some place that I want to be
I could run and hide away from all the pain I see-But That's just not me
I could chase illusions and shadows of the man I want the world to see
But deep inside I can't do this simply because That's Just not me
so here I stand on the verge of a new horizon-A new path to pursue
Yesterdays passion is behind me now if only I could forget about you
somewhere I know I did something wrong and now this is the price I must pay
so here I go boldly ready to face the truth of my life for today
there is no easy way to get through a love that's gone astray-one that walked away
so as I have many times before I learn the hard way-but for sure I'm here to stay
I won't give in to depression I won't let sorrow steal my soul of happiness
I'll keep persistently searching for my dream one day I will reach my success
so if I was to wander off into an illusion I know I really wouldn't be free
I could act like I'm happier than ever before but no That's Just Not Me
I could say it wasn't really all that big a thing when she pursued a new destiny
I could laugh as if it really doesn't hurt at all But no That's Just Not Me
