Analysis of On the Doorstep of Love

The effect of a woman on man
When a mountain of desire
 For this woman so fine
Sets his heart afire

He’ll try to restrain
His flourishing attraction
But she’s on his mind
A constant distraction

A compassionate soul
Who gives from her heart
She’s a gift of love
God’s own art

And this man before her
At the threshold there of
His heart in hand
On the doorstep of love

DanceOfThePoet'sPen

Guess you could say I'm a self taught poet. I started writing poetry as a means of dealing with the emotions of finding my Birthmother's obituary and grave site after searching for 10 years. I continued writing and over the course of the last 20 years I've become comfortable in how I write. You'll notice I tend to write a lot about nostalgia and old memories. Hey, when you round the corner of 60 years, you start thinking a lot about the past and where you've been. One of my subjects I write about is love, but I try to write of other things too. I've lived on the south shore of Massachusetts for all of my 64 years. But I love all of New England. Aside from writing poetry, I also love photography and have quite a collection of old antique cameras. Baseball, football, muscle cars and car shows are also some of my interests. Not too crazy about Winter. Spring & Summer are my favorite seasons. more…
