Analysis of Promises

Promises made and promises broken
But words are just that….words
Never said in jest but forgotten so quickly
Said to draw people in
But not followed through to keep them

Feelings are felt but forgotten
In the moment so strong and true
But gone the instant you’re apart
Out of sight, out of mind

Teaching us to toughen up
Not to trust
Not to believe
Cos no one keeps forgotten promises

Promises of forever
Promises of together
Promises of being there come whatever

Learning that promises are meant to be broken
That feelings are meant to be forgotten
Learning to keep quiet and keep things to yourself
Cos believing promises only leads to heart break.
