Analysis of I Know It When I Feel It

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

I Know It When I Feel It

I know it when I feel it
It stares me in the face
In the morning it comes over me
When you’re right here in this place
Rising up so tall
You lift me from a fall
Pieces once broken
Reveal love unspoken.

You raise my emotions
I thought long since had died
You brought me out from hiding
When you appear right by my side
Blowing like a breeze
Breathing with such ease
My heart beats and exhales
You read aloud my tale.

So out comes in the open
What you inspire inside me
You see the smile you wear each day
Spreads mine to life so free
Take me by the hand
Say you understand
Lead me to your ocean
And set my heart in motion.

With you is when I feel it
Whenever I see your face
Your beautiful gaze in my direction
Is the one thing I’ll never replace
Your fire burns within me
The light of your beauty
See now how your touch
Means to me so much.

So this is what I feel
Whenever you appear
You make me come so alive I wish
The space between us disappears
Take my hand in yours
Lead me through your door
Let us now begin
May it never end.
