Analysis of Together 4: Reminice

I close my eyes and regret,
that I’m never able to forget.
Your chests gentle heaving,
or the sound of you breathing.

I lie staring at the ceiling,
while I have trouble sleeping.
The bed seems much colder,
without you near my shoulder

Even if we would disagree,
it was forgotten when you laid by me.
Though you stole the covers,
everything was better when we were lovers.

I failed to see you would rather go hungry,
then to see us unhappy.
Nor did you notice i would only feel shame,
if you ever had a hunger pain.

So i worked as many hours as i could handle,
just to argue over a decorative candle.
You were trying to make our home look good,
while i tried to fill the cupboard with food.
