Analysis of Together As We

Lay down in the tall grass with me,
tickled by fresh sprigs of green.
Absorbing the sun and sucking in air,
while nature sings her song to us
and you and I melt into we.

Swim into the ocean with me,
roughed up by her tumbling waves.
Tread fiercely through crest and trough,
until she draws up the perfect swell
and spits us out on the sand as we.

Climb up on this mountain with me,
hold fast to the moment on top.
For its time may be short and fleet,
as the pitch of the land and a slip of the toe
drive us back to the bottom as we.

Walk out of these dark woods with me,
where moist air and speckled sun
kiss moss and pine needle beds.
Made smooth by God, but tussled by us,
as you and I return to the light as we.

About this poem

Written for Rebekah while planning our lives together. I knew we would go through a lot of ups and downs over the years. But to go through them together has been fantastic.
