Analysis of Body

I lay there restless
As he cleans me up
Wiping so carelessly
Grateful that I was just enough
I don’t feel like a person
My soul has left out
And my still body
Lies wondering when it will return

Don’t touch me
I say in my head
I am a living, breathing human
Laying on this cold bed
Is she okay?
I’d hope he’d think quietly
And I would answer aloud, no

I am not a machine
I’m not here to collect your load
The only way to get me to work is to show love
Care for me like a precious jewel
Whisper to me our plans for the end of the world
Show me that this body has another purpose
That I’m worth more than gold

But I’ll wind her back up
And find fake life to give her
Because she has a job to get done
Even if it always kills her
