Analysis of I'd Rather Not

I'd rather not be rich if I
Became a greedy man.
And be like those who walk on by
Without a helping hand.

I'd rather not be with the ones
Who only are polite
And act like they are having fun
With me while in their sight.

And I would rather not be told
Remarks that aren't sincere.
When given compliments to hold,
Onto another year!
