Analysis of New Chapter

Patricia Kienle 1980 (Providence, RI)

From darkness i see light,
These demons be chasing me at night,
Giving me thoughts and visions in my head,
So now i sit here constipating these voices,
Swirling around my head,
Do i listen to them or do i run instead,
I just did a year of probation,
It felt like home confinement,
Now I'm spreading my wings and flying,
Breaking free from these chains that binded,
Wrestling with myself on where i go from here,
These evil thoughts whispering in my ear,
Then i feel a hand upon my shoulder,
Words oh so clear.
Babygirl I'm still here,
Thats when it hit me oh so clear,
It's a whole new year,
The slate's clear,
Time to put one in the air,
I'm free and clear,
To begin life without no fear,
Time for me to make a move,
Get back on track,
Don't listen to them fools,
Creeping around trying to bring me down,
Reaching for the light to rise above,
All this darkness that's held me down,
Time to shed my skin,
Let life begin again.
