Analysis of In the Moment

In the Moment

Today is all I have
After all
The past is a nightmare I just woke up from
I don’t have to heal from what isn’t real
If I can just convince myself, that’s the deal
To look back means to relive it
And I don’t want to re-feel it
Think about it… or rather don’t

Tomorrow is a dream
Opaque through the mist and the haze
I can’t see where to step
And there’s fear of the unknown in those days
What if I stumble? What if I falter?
Will I have more to leave on the altar?
Will I succeed or will I fail?
Is there yet more suffering beyond the veil?

No, today is all I have
One foot in front of the other
One good choice for myself leads to another
And maybe one day it will be enough
But today I just need to be tough
Yesterday and tomorrow are rough
But nothing truly exists but this moment
To make a choice to breathe freely or live in torment
